The Friendship Algorithm by Sheldon Cooper

One of my recent favorite sitcoms is 'The Big Bang Theory'. It's about these four nerds and a hot girl who lives next door. The characters include the Lords of the geeks - Sheldon, the creepy Howard with his weird pick up lines, the one who provides cultural diversity to the group - Raj, the very sweet geek who is head over heels for the neighbor - Leonard and of course the hot neighbor - Penny. I enjoy watching this series mostly because of Sheldon. Sheldon is an unfriendly character who lives with Leonard. He was a child prodigy just like the famous Doogie Howser. Sheldon started college at an early age. He is set in his ways and is very meticulous about everything that he does. He follows a strict adherence to routine and even though he is a scientist, he is not very experimental when it comes to trying new things in his way of living, like trying a new restaurant or making a new friend.

This reminds me of this episode where he tries to befriend a colleague. He meets him in the cafeteria and proposes that they become friends. He goes to a book store to purchase a book on the theories in the field of friend making. After reading the book he designs a flowchart to accomplish his task. Later he leaves a message for him on his phone -
"Berry, it was pleasant seeing you today in the cafeteria. I saw that you purchased the chef salad. I hope you enjoyed it. I'm following up on our pending friendship and I look forward to hearing from you regarding its status."
At the end the entire endeavor results in an exercise in futility. It's a hillarious attempt from Sheldon's side though and a must watch. And I really like the way they name the episodes like this particular episode is named - the Friendship Algorithm. LOL!
