The Friendship Algorithm by Sheldon Cooper

One of my recent favorite sitcoms is 'The Big Bang Theory'. It's about these four nerds and a hot girl who lives next door. The characters include the Lords of the geeks - Sheldon, the creepy Howard with his weird pick up lines, the one who provides cultural diversity to the group - Raj, the very sweet geek who is head over heels for the neighbor - Leonard and of course the hot neighbor - Penny. I enjoy watching this series mostly because of Sheldon. Sheldon is an unfriendly character who lives with Leonard. He was a child prodigy just like the famous Doogie Howser. Sheldon started college at an early age. He is set in his ways and is very meticulous about everything that he does. He follows a strict adherence to routine and even though he is a scientist, he is not very experimental when it comes to trying new things in his way of living, like trying a new restaurant or making a new friend.

This reminds me of this episode where he tries to befriend a colleague. He meets him in the cafeteria and proposes that they become friends. He goes to a book store to purchase a book on the theories in the field of friend making. After reading the book he designs a flowchart to accomplish his task. Later he leaves a message for him on his phone -
"Berry, it was pleasant seeing you today in the cafeteria. I saw that you purchased the chef salad. I hope you enjoyed it. I'm following up on our pending friendship and I look forward to hearing from you regarding its status."
At the end the entire endeavor results in an exercise in futility. It's a hillarious attempt from Sheldon's side though and a must watch. And I really like the way they name the episodes like this particular episode is named - the Friendship Algorithm. LOL!

Knock Knock!

Knock knock!
Who's there?
Madam!
Madam who?
Madam foot is caught in the door.

Knock knock!
Who's there?
Police!
Police who?
Police let us in, it's cold outside.

The Wikipedia definition of Knock knock jokes is - a type of joke which is simply pun intended and time honored. It's like a role-play between two people where in one person knocks on the door saying, "Kncok knock!"and the other is supposed to answer it saying - "Who's there?" . It's typically a five liner joke with a standard format. Knock knock jokes are silly and whacky. Every kid probably goes through a stage of telling knock knock jokes in his life. It's all good humor. A few months ago while I was watching TV I happened to stumble upon an edition of Mad TV on Zee cafe, cracking up with knock knock jokes. It it took me down memory lane. Instantly, I googled knock knock jokes and then there I was, reading so many of them and I couldn't stop laughing. They are adorable! Reading them just threw me back in time. It was so much fun and later that evening I started playing all these role plays with my friends and it was awesome. Silly yet awesome! It's good to be silly sometimes. You don't always have to act all mature, it's good to loosen up sometimes.

If you're interested in some knock knock jokes, I recommend that you go to this website. There are some 100 pages and a wide variety of the 'Knock knock' jokes. They are dumb, they are funny, a little silly, some whacky and the others stupid and annoying. But hey, it's good to lighten up in life sometimes.

Randomness - I am who I am!

So a few months ago on face book, we had people mentioning all sorts of random things about themselves. It sounded fascinating but I could just never get around to bring myself to pen down any random things about me. But when I finally did, I totally surprised myself. And here are a few random things about me -

I 'm fascinated by watching airplanes go by. I always get distracted by them when driving or if in conversation with someone.

I love watching romantic comedies. I could watch them over and over again. And I hate watching gory action movies with murders and blood. I try not to make a big deal about it anymore by closing my eyes or else by simply reminding myself - that it's just a movie!

Throughout my school life I was majorly into singing but somewhere down the line I lost in touch with that hobby of mine. After all these years I have rediscovered the joy of singing and now whenever I'm driving, I search for songs on the radio that I know and sing along with them. I love singing!

So every time I talk to my sister, over the phone, she keeps telling me that my phone is screwed up. She can't hear me and neither can I. The voice is always muffled. So once we hang up I have to call up someone else to check if my phone is working fine or not.

I love it when someone plays with my hair. I wish they would never stop. And especially after a hair wash. That's when I feel the sleepiest. No matter how late I'm running I stick around till it's fully set. Oh ya, and now I've finally learned how to wash my own hair. Yay!

At some point in time in my life I became an insomniac and those were the times when I could go 4 days at a stretch without a wink of sleep. It's a marvel how that got cured. Anyway, but even now I need a background score to put me to sleep. I can't sleep in silence.

No matter how tired I am, when I come back from a party, I always arrange and fold my clothes and put them back in my wardrobe. And in the morning before leaving for work I HAFTO make my bed, even if I'm running late.

All these things are a part of me and they make me the person that I am. And I would change nothing about myself. Cheers!

Dubai - The city that rocks 24*7

I sit in the back seat of an Audi as we are traveling down the 50 km long, Sheikh Zaid Road. The road has 6 lanes. The speed limit is around 120 kms/hour. As we are cruising down the road I notice the tall buildings. The Burj towers, the tallest building in the world, still under construction though. It stands 180 floors high. No matter where you are in Dubai, you can spot this tower. We cross other buildings like the twin towers, DIFC, MOE (The Mall of Emirates), my brother in law's office, my friend's office. I hear stories of these places. Things that fascinate me like Skii Dubai. I sit there looking out, looking at the buildings. Looking at the lit up buildings and wonder how pretty they look at that moment. And that if there was any way I could capture that moment. I open my bag and my hands fumble through the things in search of a camera, but as my luck has it, I am unable to locate my camera. Not wanting to take my eyes off this pretty sight, I stop looking for the camera and instead just sit there staring out of the window of the Audi. To add to this, the cars that I see on the road is something which again catches my interest. I see a Porsche, a BMW. I spot a hummer driving beside us. Just then something that catches my attention is the photo of this person (Sheikh). I ask who is he and i learn that he is the ruler. And that every shop, hotel or any establishment has to have the photo of the ruler. Sheikh Mohammad, is the name I am told.

As I look at all of this and as I hear the stories, I am sleep deprived since I have had a long day, a long flight. And I crave for nothing but a bed and a quilt to snuggle into. But as one part of me wants this the other still wants to stay up and not loose sight of what my eyes are witnessing. A battle that's taking place in my head. The human mind, always wanting everything and always wanting more han it can possible handle. My mind, half sleepy half excited. It becomes difficult for me to keep y eyes open any longer than now. I slowly drift away to la-la land...
